Texture Help: How do I apply the textures in Photoshop or Illustrator?

Product categoriesUpdated November 1, 2026

Studio 2am textures come in high-resolution JPG and PNG formats, making them easy to apply in both Photoshop and Illustrator. Here's how:

In Photoshop:

  1. Open your project, then go to File > Place Embedded to add the texture.

  2. Resize and position the texture over your artwork using Ctrl+T (or Cmd+T on Mac).

  3. In the Layers panel, set the Blend Mode (e.g. Overlay, Multiply, Screen) to integrate the texture with your design.

  4. Adjust the opacity or use a layer mask to control how much of the texture shows.

In Illustrator:

  1. Place the texture into your document with File > Place.

  2. Use it as a background, mask, or overlay element.

  3. To blend it with your vector artwork, use the Transparency panel to change the blend mode and opacity.

These textures—ranging from paper and fabric to geometric patterns—add visual depth, warmth, and realism to any design project. Whether you're working on branding, packaging, or digital art, they're a fast way to elevate your visuals.

Enjoy! Have fun playing around with your new textures! 💥🌈
