How do I choose the right license?

Updated August 1, 202634 views

The right license depends on what you're making, how it will be used, and how many people need access to the asset.

For graphics, effects, mockups, textures, and templates

Both Standard and Extended Commercial licenses are sold per seat — select the number of people who need to use the asset at checkout.

Standard Commercial is the right choice if your use case falls within:

  • Client work, branding, social media, logos, print, and ads
  • Physical or digital products for sale — up to 10,000 units total
  • Website use
  • No app, software, or broadcast use required

Extended Commercial is the right choice if you need:

  • App, desktop software, or video game use
  • Broadcast or streaming use
  • More than 10,000 units of end products for sale (up to 250,000)

Not sure if your use case fits? Read the full Standard Commercial License Agreement or Extended Commercial License Agreement, or contact us.

For fonts

Desktop — for print, branding, logos, packaging, and client deliverables. Sold per seat (one per person using the font files). Select the number of seats at checkout.

Webfont — for embedding live, selectable text on websites you own. Select the tier that matches your monthly pageviews at checkout: 10K / 100K / 1M / 10M pageviews per month

App — for embedding the font in a mobile app, desktop software, or game. Select the tier that matches your monthly active users: 25K / 200K / 1M / 5M users per month

ePub — for embedding the font in ebooks or digital publications. Select the number of titles at checkout.

If you need the font for both print work and a live website, you'll need both a Desktop and a Webfont license — they cover different types of use.

How do I select my license at checkout?

License options appear on the product page when you add an item to your cart. For fonts, you'll also select the number of seats or the relevant tier at the same step.

Need something larger or more custom?

For use cases beyond the standard tiers — 25+ seats, global broadcast or out-of-home advertising, production beyond 250,000 units, exclusivity, or a modified asset — you'll need an Enterprise License. See When do I need an Enterprise License? and fill out the form at help.studio2am.co/enterprise to get a quote.

See Licenses for the full breakdown of each license type.
